Hitler Youths have rendezous with death. Braunschweig, Germany… Two german boys, 16 and 17 years old, are shown here on their way to a rendezous before a firing squad before the U.S. 9th army near Braunshweig. The boys were convicted by the general military court at Munchen Gladbach and sentenced to be shot for activities behind the America lines. Both were members of the Hitler Youth movement. At top sixteen year old Heinz/Petry, from Alsdorf, is escorted to the place of execution. Below, a Military policeman of the 9th army binds Joseph Schoner to the execution post. The president of the military court blasted the german authorities who sent such boys on such a dirty errand.

McDERMOTT: I vaguely remember this photo. I do remember an incident were I took a photo with FINNIGAN and it appears that this is it. I remember an unknown District and there were several officers in there and FINNIGAN called me over, told me to get in the picture, and I sat in the picture. The photo was taken and I went back to the business I was doing that day. BARZ: Were you working with Officer FINNIGAN on this date?

McDERMOTT: I don’t recall.
BARZ: Who placed the Deer Antlers on the African American’s head?
McDERMOTT: I don’t recall.
BARZ: Where did you get the rifles in this picture?
McDERMOTT: I don’t recall.
BARZ: Was this picture intended to represent the African American in this picture as a hunted Deer?
McDERMOTT: Not by me. My involvement in this was seconds.
